    Hello Jennifer,

In answer to your question about factual info on Australian surgeons, you won’t find any. Or those surgeons previously mentioned (Ceber, Ives etc) I am aware of another Urologist in Sydney who performs Vaginoplasty. Dr. Richard Millard at Concord Hosp. I know absolutely nothing about him, but have had reference made to him through GP contacts.

Dr. Marci Bowers has a good resources page on her website which will give you some idea of what to expect.

VAGINOPLASTY IS MAJOR, TRAUMATIC, INVASIVE SURGERY. Do not UNDERESTIMATE IT. Research the surgeons, patients, techniques until to can recite it verbatim.

This surgery not only changes you physically, but psychologically and esoterically. Being major traumatic surgery it comes with the real risk of post surgical trauma and depression. Ensure you are well read on the subject and have follow up sessions with your Psych/Therapist.

There is no such thing as too much research on this specific event in your life. Be mindfully aware that even 20% of the post op community commit suicide. We lost one very successful woman in Adelaide last week.

Do your research and know EXACTLY what you want. If you don’t understand anything, don’t do anything else until you know exactly what it means.

Good luck (Labouring Under Correct Knowledge )
    Huggs

One of my friends on another forum swears by using an epilator on her face and says it has dramatically reduced strong dark hairs and becomes easier each time you do it. I tried (after a lifetime of occasional plucking) but it was way too painful for this wimp. I’ve gone for laser and after two $70 sessions all my dark hairs have turned light grey and regrow at half the speed. So that is the route for me. My friend recently started electrolysis and says that there are just as many hairs to do as if she had never done epilating but most of them were small and almost invisible.

I watched the show and later my wife watched it on i view, so thanks to Angela for flagging it. I thought it was a good first effort though it cried out for a second episode with more about the wider range of gender fluid people who do not have their eyes firmly set on a version of transition. I found it disturbing that the youngster who wanted to dress in her preferred gender without changing her body was essentially pushed by her mother into going all out so she would fit in more believably. In defence of the show’s initial failure to find “people” in Australia willing to come on the show, they did make it clear that the were seeking to start with young folk and parents were the ones reluctant to see their children outed on TV.
    But definitely worth watching.

Years ago I was getting regular Electrolysis and while I wouldnt say it was great value I still have light facial hair even after having shaved for years.
Anyway Electrolysis eventually weakend the hairs as does tweezing and it got to a stage where I was able to wax my face myself at home. Much easier than playing with tweezers.
It hardly hurt and if I had kept going I would never have shaved againl.
Moral of my story is to use both and in conjunction to beat the pesky little buggers.
Also I feel that if you were lasered at pubery it would save a life time of shaving and weird that it hasnt caught on in general.

    Hi Melissa,

I’ll spare you the details, as we are all different. In answer to your question. Yes; I identified myself at the age of 4, to be a girl, not a boy.

With the aid of an gender therapist I was able to process my dysphoria to the point of transitioning. This is a process in progress to be completed soon.

I’ve never really subscribed to the “born in the wrong body” syndrome. The body I have IS mine, it just had some correctable imperfections. I discovered that in Year 9 science.

    Hope this helps

My take on this is influenced by my partner’s struggle to understand me and balance her repulsion with her desire to keep me. And yes her repulsion repells me. She is trying hard to understand me and is increasingly succeeding but is on a very steep learning curve. Earlier she wanted nothing to do with the Carol side but can now accept everything I do including sharing a room with me dressed to the nines and knowing I have started hormones and laser hair removal, while simultaneously being horrified about what I might do in the future.
So my strategy is play for time by slowing down a bit and in her own time she may moderate even her hardest held positions as she already has. I’m not saying we will stay together but I haven’t given up hope yet.

I’m with Pamela. I was desperately keen to come to Katoomba. I joined TGR in preparation. But family circumstances shifted and I just can’t this year. I’ll just have to make do with the forum and the first restaurant outing I can get to until next year.

One of the things we can’t do is wind back the clock and try a different route. Thirty years ago when my wife felt she could no longer handle “Carol” and with responsibilities to a young family I chose to pretend to give up cross-dressing and went covert. Now in my mid 60s I’ve come out to my wife again and to my three adult daughters. My sons-in-law and grandchildren don’t know. I’ve admitted to myself and the medicos that I want to transition. I’ve started anti-androgens and expect to be on hrt next week. I haven’t told the family that it goes beyond dressing but they are intelligent and will work it out soon. Then I may or may not lose all family relationships. I’m tormented by the life I might have had if I’d taken the big step earlier. Counsellors and psychs have helped me work out who I am but if I’m honest I always knew. They helped in the birth but didn’t plant the seed. Now I have to deal with the results of choices a younger me made.

Wow Jane, so much information and you are so far ahead of me. Over the years I’ve experimented with hormones I “borrowed” from my wife. I’ve also bought from transformation.co.uk. I’ve just a couple of comments to reinforce some things you’ve said. I managed to grow an almost B cup on my left and something a bit smaller on my right mainly through exercise and boob cream from transformation. But when I wanted to begin using anti-androgens I asked transformation what the active ingredients were and received a deafening silence. There are some risks I’m not prepared to take. I had been about to dive into herbals but hearing that they could block the effectiveness of genuine HRT I decided to go legit with the medicos. I found a sympathetic GP in Sydney who put me straight on Finasteride 5mg ant-androgen and referred me to a psych for clearance for HRT. I’m now one month into finasteride and have had the psych interview. I’ll see the GP next week and hopefully will start HRT then. I just wish I’d been brave enough to seek professional help earlier.

Thanks Catherine. You’ve made my day. I’ve got a B on one side and less on the other. A balanced set of Cs would make me very happy.

As mention, hereditary is only a “general” indicator of your overall breast growth. My mother was a ‘B’ all her life, except for here breastfeeding days, and I’m a ‘C’ and still growing. Albeit starting on PM, I’m now on HT.

    Hi Caroline,

Connie is probably so blown away by the beautiful images she cannot bear to part with them, I think.

It will be worth the wait.

    Thanks and regards,

After this TF weekend, my third, I can safely say that this event keeps getting better and better.

The growing range of activities surrounding the Transformal evening, which offer lots of little spaces to chat informally with others and make new friends, have just about become the main event.

Many thanks to Amanda and everyone else who combined forces to make all this happen.
