Good to hear the medication is providing some relief effect. You may wish to consider seeking other medical opinions, as the advise I got my from my Endo regarding cycling HT for MTF women, it is only effective if you are wishing to fall pregnant. That the only reason the female body cycles it’s hormone levels.

The best feminising results for MTF women, is to have a constant, effective supply of hormones; and in his opinion, that can be best provided through sub dermal implants.

You might feel fine during your 14-27 days, but what is the effect you experience during the 1-13 days. Perhaps may not do the condition you are on anti depressants for, much good.

That’s my experience and 2 cents worth. HT can be a dangerous process to play with. It can result in death, or least case serious damage to critical organs.

Dear Erika,

I am not in the least surprised at the lack of knowledge and basic understanding of those who are deemed the experts in the field of transgender care and well being.

The only people who do know, who do really care and do understand in my humble opinion and experience is us. Nobody else – period, over and out.

I long to be proved wrong but fear I will never be.

Thanks Erica. I’ll be talking to my GP about this. He put me on gel because of my age. But after only one month I’m looking for something less messy and with a more consistent dose.

Wow. Incredibly important.
I wonder what this means for the Marriage Act. Currently M+W is OK but same sex isn’t. How about M+? or W+?. Does ? get the benefit of the doubt?

Bearing in mind that makeup is all about illusion, I’ve found that nothing beats getting expert personal advice on something as central as foundation.

There are several variables to consider, including the particular characteristics of your skin and the nature of the foundation in question.

At the high end, nothing seems to beat getting a “makeover” from an experienced makeup artist in a MAC store. MAC are choosy about who they employ. Best ring beforehand. Be totally upfront and explain that you need some good advice. Usually, they’ll be equally upfront and friendly, letting you know if; when, and where they can accommodate you. Alternatively, they may be able to point you in the direction of a makeup artist known to them, who they think would be likely to help.

Otherwise, in my experience, there are always a few professional makeup artists around who specialise in weddings and/ or modelling and who are also comfortable offering helpful insights to trans folk. As there are at least a couple of fabulously experienced makeup artists here in Perth who have been very helpful to many of us, I have little doubt that Sydney will have several.

tarzan grip or selleys supa glue works well thats what i use the cheap glue doesn’t work & don’t use lock tite trust me that shit is hard to get off…..

I didn’t post to impress people Ashley. I thought it might help. I actually live on the NSW South Coast and getting to the Gender Centre involves a 3-4hr train trip or 2.5 hrs by car which I do just once a month. I think it’s worth it. Of course my age helps there. A pensioner day concession is only $2.50 return!

I can endorse the counselling provided by the Gender Centre and I’ve also seen Dr Toohey who I found to be very supportive. I’d add Dr Emanuel Vlahakis at the Taylor Square Private Clinic , 393 Bourke St Darlinghurst 02 93316151 http://www.tspc.com.au. Dr Vlahakis is a sympathetic GP specialising in gender issues. He was recommended to me by the Gender Centre and in turn referred me to Dr Toohey. He is now managing my hormone treatment.

Update:
Dr Cathy Pell also at the Taylor Square Private Clinic stood in for Dr Vlahakis in seeing me when he was away for a few months. She too was very understanding.
The Gender Centre has moved from Petersham to Annandale recently.

I suppose until I’ve been there. I mean fully transitioned and comfortable in it. I don’t know what my attitude will be but I can guess. When I came to Australia 40 odd years ago I didn’t join an ex-Poms club. After a coronary bypass 15 yrs ago I didn’t join the Zipper club. I haven’t joined any prostate cancer support groups either. So when the problem is fixed I tend to move on with my life in the mainstream. I’m busily contributing at the moment on several TG/CD sites and will be going to events. I’m also taking information and experience from these places but I can foresee a day when I won’t want or need to. I certainly don’t judge others who have moved on. Good luck to them.
