    Tess,
It’s been a few months since you posted this thread. I was wondering how you are coping. We are still all here for you. I’ve only recently joined TgR but am on an identical journey.
Trust you are safe, well and happy.

Christina and Clare have both made very realistic comments about our community, and the need for us, individually, to search out; who we really are.
I for one, would be in a completely different place today, if I hadn’t been railroaded in my earlier years by the grossly inapt, misleading, perverse and bigotted labelling that pervaded our community, and to some degree, lingers today.
If the correct information about my womanhood was available, I would be a far more effective and contributing citizen to our entire society.
And the evidence continues to flood in each day. The ABC Stateline ACT programme indicated the Canberra group are receiving 100’s of calls from people absolutely sick and tired of living in denial for 40, 50, 60 and even longer years. As they said,”And this is only the tip of the ice berg”.
Well Canberra is not an isolated case, NSW Gender Centre is being inundated with similar requests for support and information.
It’s time we all ‘got real’ and looked at ourselves in the naked light of ‘who am I – really’. Smash down the walls of denial and start living the life of who you were destined to be. Don’t live a life of abject misery attempting to fulfill the expectations of everyone you know. Disappoint them now and get it over and done with.
Just look at the breathe of fresh air moving through the US, where parents in urban and rural communities are actively supporting the gender correction of their siblings. WOW!! Try that 30 years ago, and you would have been thrown out of home, like I was. So much for unconditional parental love.
Time for us to make a stand. Just remember, womanhood or manhood (whichever side you are) starts from within. It then radiates out exponentially allowing each and every individual to reach their desired goal – if they so desire – Embrace it, Enjoy it, It’s – YOU –

    Be safe, well and happy

OK – the challenge is on!

We probably all have several key things in common, most notably that virtually all of us are positioned somewhere across the gender spectrum – that is, our brains are out of alignment to varying degrees with what was declared at the time we all came kicking and screaming into the world. And, most likely, we have a whole lot of similar experiences of the consequences of forging our way in the world while living and coping with the discordance within us.

But it’s not one size fits all – the extent of the dissonance in each of us varies hugely. This simple fact alone means that there is tremendous diversity within the TG community. And it’s probably fair to say that only the most remarkable of organisations could adequately cater for all our differences.

So, it is perhaps no surprise that that there are so many groups – they have evolved, or budded out, in response to a broad range of needs.

Recognition and acceptance of the diversity may well be an essential starting point. After that, it may be possible to think of effective ways to link groups so that useful synergies begin to evolve.

    What an excellent idea!

(…. oh, and I’m adding a few more words here to get above the number of words needed to avoid the following – “your message appears to be too brief for these forums. Please review your post to ensure that you are saying something worthwhile. ( 23|3|0)” ).

    Dear Pamela,

The answer is quite obvious. ……….. You are …… human. You have …..feelings. Respect them …….. honour them……….. It’s YOU. ……..Nobody else. Irrespective of how you present, …… physically. Just look at our para olympians. Some of their body parts don’t work or aren’t there. Does that worry them? Certainly not !!!

Quite an amazing topic to try and put a lid on. Or catagorise. After many years of searching why we do , what we do, I think it comes down to the point that black is black, white is white; and gray is gray. And how many shades are there in grey? Do we really need to label ourselves in this way, as to whether we are gay straight or other?

The way we are all predispostioned by way of genetics, hormonal, environmental constraints, and chromonsonal signatures, even down to the molecular level, as intersex research is driving, does it really matter?

Should we be focusing on our own individual unique journey and embracing it as the real centre structure of our being? Releasing us to be who we really are, and not putting ourselves down because we may be …….. gay …..straight ……. bi ….whatever? If I love someone, I love them for who they are, not what they are.

I know I’ve been unique since the age of 5. I believe I am predestined to be a women, regrettably some of my body parts forgot, and physically I present as male; in some parts; yet still with a big bum and hips. In exploring this value I’ve learnt to love women for what they can teach me in being a woman, and I love men, as I believe one of my purposes is to satisfy a man. I have done this, yet I don’t believe I have ever satisfied a woman.
What shade of gray does this make me?
Thank you, I appreciate and respect all of you.
    Love
    Catherine

What more can I say??? Felicity-Lane, Bethany and April, have said it all, and so succintly.

Someone sent me an email some time ago, wanting to more about my alter-ego. i.e. the Catherine side of me. After checking the dictionary for the correct interperation of the word, I had to tell them about Paul; the little bit of maleness, Catherine exhibits.

07/07/2011 at 3:07 pm in reply to: Are you happy being a man or seriously wanting to be a woman

    WOW!
After 6 years it is more than evident on what a continuum we live in. I think it is a celebration for us all to look at and embrace whatever part of that continuum we are in.

For myself, I was fortunate enough to realise at the age of 5, I was a girl. I’ll thank Gail, my next door neighbour, for being the catalyst of that realisation.

As Christine said earlier, she has had no doubt what so ever that she is woman. My brain wiring has always shared that same perspective. I was distracted in my young adulthood by these unnecessary medical boxes (TG, TS etc, etc) as they only serve to placate the medical fraternaity so they can be satisfied in trying to apply the correct medication in order to “cure” us. I believe that denial is a shocking place to live. (been there) and its not until we brush all the external noise (classifications, media etc) away and tune into our inner most thoughts and feelings that the real you is brought into perspective. How we deal with this realisations is yet another matter. I’ve always been a woman, its just some of my body parts forgot to do the right thing.

I read an interseting article just recently that takes us to an all new level, of molecular biology, in understanding who we are.

I found an interesting link from Dr. Eric Vilain, MD, PhD. Vilain is an assistant professor of Human Genetics at UCLA looks into some of the possible reasons as to, “Why we are”.

    http://www.learner.org/courses/bi…/units/gender/experts/vilain.html

In summary there appears to be 5 major factors (to date; watch this space for more in the future) (Sounds like a Spielberg movie) that drive us along our journey. Genes, chromosomes, hormones, genetics and environmental influences in varying quantities, levels, strengths, dominance and interactions provide medical science adequate permutations to respectably resemble the factors that influence any commercial air craft accident.
A whole new ball game is happening down at a molecular level. With new genes DAX1, SRY and WNT4, sounding more like PC operating systems than the basic building blocks of our existence. Where male genitalia can occur in supposedly genuine XX chromosomes (female) and sufficient X chromosomes at a molecular level can be found in the Y chromosome (male) to produce functioning female genitalia and other forms of feminisation.
These molecular levels are so small they are only visible under an electron microscope; normal micro scopes cannot see them
And the good news is, this is still, only the tip of the proverbial iceberg. So, sit back, relax, and do what you have to do, but most of all, enjoy the journey. It’s unique
    Thanks for listening.
    Be safe, well and happy

What a good idea! I’m sure that many of us would have a few things to contribute.
