I met Jan through TGR chatting about all sorts of trans issues and family! I then had the fortune to meet her in person when she was on her way down to Melbourne to see family and she stopped over in seaside village Bermagui! We both had a very enjoyable evening at the local Italian restaurant over looking the fishing boats! The staff commented on how great we both looked and gave us wonderful service! Vale to Jan I found her so kind, warmth, supportive and forthright in her trans endeavours! Blessings to her and the family! Xx

That is so sad to hear! I met Christine on many occasions and was a very elegant women! It also brings up the sensitive question about death and being trans! What family know? what is accepted? do other trans friend attend the funeral etc! ?

Hi I from Far South Coast some 7 hrs away and attended 2013 Mardi Gras which was fab! I have the fortune to have a wonderful relationship with 2 very special lesbian girlfriends who have 2 children together and was asked to accompany them in the Equal Rights for Marriage group. They had the father his partner and two children attend also. Was an amazing experience to parade down Oxford Street ( we one of the last floats) and be cheered on by so many people and to see the overwhelming acceptance to the issue of marriage equality. So I know there was trans people dotted in and around the different floats and this could be more formalized in a float of just a mob of trans people with a banner! However this takes organisation of people and one that needs facilitation by some dedicated soul!

Hi all
Been following posts and have really been touched by every one’s sensitive insights. Reading through the words I reflect on my own journey and the wonderful experiences I have now had in the public eye since last year and finally after so many years of guilt, confusion, trauma, loss and grief.
My final happiness came about by what has been touched on – finally coming to my own self acceptance in a holistic manner. Once I owned this the world opened up and I stepped out in confidence something that surprised me!
So after all the why’s, it was why not! it is who I am and makes me a better human being in terms of being sensitive to others, tolerant, supportive, caring and empathic! I take this into my family life, working life and the community, it is deep within!
I have found the experience enlightening and magical! Most people are kind and will tend to respect you for standing in your truth if one is gracious and confident and of course if one has made a great effort to look well groomed and appropriate.
I can now say “Once was a curse is now a blessing! and forums like this make me feel confirmed which is always lovely so thanks and blessings to you all! It can be a wonderful world out there and we as tg people throw magic and light at it by standing in our truth.
kind regards Sophia -
Hi Sophia here
good to hear a discussion commencing on the subject of cooperation. I for one just new to the community early this year. However I wanted to see what is out there so joined Seahorse NSW/Vic, CTN and TgR. I have found all these organizations have hardworking volunteer committee/office bearers with passion to support all on the trans gender journey. One may pick one organization over another for their own need.
I cherish the diversity of the organizations and the many wonderful people in them.
Maybe we need a forum for all to meet up and discuss the need for cooperation for when it doesn’t happen between organizations it just leaves negative energy that stifles the growth to learn and accept.

Hi all I attended the function on the front lawns last year and met some lovely women who where so supportive of us girls and the transformal event They did mention to join up for something the next year so I be in for joining in the march but will have to re arrange my departure time. So agree with all, what a fab weekend! I was sad I missed the second forum of the Q&A discussion, I was preparing my display for my presentation immediately after. However the first session with themes of community, relationships, health, opened more of a door to this magical wonderful world. The panel inspired safety to step just that little bit further in terms of being more active, whether that be on a personal level or a community/ies based level. Speaking with others it also had similar effect
The weekend had many aspects to it. The wine tasting was marvelous! great tastes and local produce nibbles! Reception dinner, quiz and the heart rendering short films what a start!
Next day of presentation/workshops, discussions, what substance! On to lunch with friends new and old more workshops/chats, then the wonderful glam, yum food, and dynamic band at the formal yes I was the crazy dancer just can’t help myself when I hear good music!
Thank you one and all, sitting with friends later on the night, it was so apparent how warm our hearts felt for the experience.
blessings Amanda/Caroline/ respective partners and /TgR community.
