I’ve just watched an episode of Q&A on ABC. One panellist was Group Captain Catherine McGregor,RAAF Reserve, speech writer for Head of Air Force.
It looks like our Cate has survived the moving on of the Head of Army and continues to be a great role model and spokesperson for TG people.

I really ought to go to Sparkle sometime. I was born and bred in Greater Manchester but packed my bags in 1970 and came to Australia. There was nothing like Sparkle back then. UK friends can only say good things about it. Unlike most TG conventions it seems to be spread out over multiple venues.

What a horrific story. So is Eliana still stuck in HK waiting for a country that will take her?

At Glebe last Friday I mentioned the Gay Rugby World Cup and how an organiser had mentioned LGBT in an aside in a story on TV that was essentially about tough gay men. I thought it was an example of Adrian’s tipping point thesis (that TG is becoming more “normal” to mainstream Australia). The very next morning I read the article that is at the top of this thread and realised the organiser wasn’t just being casual when he mentioned the T but had one of his players in mind. It’s still a good story though.

Me too. The Labor Party has been disappointing me and I need a new home.

I’ve had almost 100% positive reactions from shop assistants when asking for help. The one exception was in a charity shop as I looked for a denim skirt. An elderly volunteer told me I was in the ladies section and the men’s room was through that door. I thanked her and said I might look there later. When I’d chosen the skirt I wanted and went to pay she looked at me as though I was something the cat had dragged in.
Never mind I never went back there and one in over a hundred isn’t too hard to handle.

Yes this was the least shocking news since Ian Thorpe came out as gay.
Apparently Andreja had a supportive family and was on puberty blockers since age about 13. Good luck to her. I’ve taken a wee while to get over my attack of jealousy but seriously, she has done it so smoothly I’m in awe.

The problem I hit isn’t the dress size of garments. Due to my, apparently below average, height it’s the length. Go to Autograph to buy a pair of jeans, I look for an overall length of about 95cm. The shortest overall length they currently have in jeans is 105cm. And I hit the same problem for skirts and dresses.

I’ve always been confused by sizing and particularly the assumption by manufacturers that if your waist size is larger so is your height.

I give up. I’ve been stalling replying to this thread because I’ve been trying to pull my weight back down but here’s the honest truth. 5’10” (178cm), shoe size 10/11 with a need for wide fitting in a 10, top/dress 18/20 or XL/XXL, bottom 14/16. Weight 90 kg and working on it. In summary I can buy in normal women’s stores eg Rockmans but would find a bigger range if I could just drop a few more kilos.

    Hi Rachel
I’m glad laser worked so well for you. Mine started that way but then came back stronger and a little darker.

This is my second go at this topic. As you probably realise I self-identify as MtF Transsexual, albeit a late bloomer and with medical issues that suggest I may never manage SRS. I am happy to consider myself falling under the umbrella of Transgender.
Browsing http://www.femulate.org recently I came across a reference to a new book “Trans Bodies, Trans Selves: A Modern Manual By and For Trans People”
It sounds to be a great book. Full of positive stories by trans people. scrolling down through comments on the book and past initial positive reactions I came to a series of comment posts by Transwomen which were disappointing, even disturbing.
In the disappointing category were those women who didn’t want to be included in the umbrellas of LGBTI or Transgender. They were successful TS and women, full stop.
In the disturbing category were the above group who thought putting them in an umbrella group was a conspiracy to devalue them.
Worse, others denigrated TG people who wanted to transition without surgery and or hormones as “fetishistic transgenders” not real TS.
It really is disappointing that even trans people can’t accept the validity of other transpeople.
    I hope this link works:
