I’ve commented on it in my blog too but I seem to be at the two personas with the femme one coming up against barriers stage. Something in my strategy will have to change soon. Thanks for the guidance.

It gave me a smile but also reminded me that I’m no longer in my youth when anything was possible. Thanks for the behind the scenes link I hadn’t seen that before.

I’ve heard of several cases where people have transitioned MtF and then changed their minds and even one case of MtF back to M and then a second go at F. The special features of the Don/Dawn case are the massive publicity given to the original transition which must have put the poor soul under immense pressure, and the bizarre explanation for the change of mind. I’d support anyone’s right to decided that the change was a mistake but to have to blame it on temporary amnesia that threw them back to a pre-trans male life as a precursor to getting memories back but with no desire to be, or dress as, a female just stretches my credulity a bit too far.

It hasn’t happened to me yet and I guess my reaction will depend on who recognises me who they are with and where. The closest I’ve come was being spotted buying cheap lipstick and foundation with sales assistant help by a work colleague at lunchtime. I smiled. Made the shush symbol with finger on lips and winked. I’ve no idea what he thought but nothing was ever said. My daughters know but don’t want their husbands too so if a daughter spotted me I’d follow her lead.

Hi Stephanie,
I am pretty sure it would be considered normal to be apprehensive.
If you are sure this is right for you just enjoy the feeling knowing you are going to finally be you.
I wish you all the best.

Administrator16/07/2013 at 12:11 am in reply to: Do you suffer from “PDWS”??, (see main taxt)Hi Caty,
Yes, without a doubt I suffer terribly from PDWS . I was lucky enough to spend nine straight days, bar going to work, in Kayh mode recently and it was nine days of total happiness and a sense of belonging. However, after picking my wife up from the airport, which I was happy about I hasten to add, I went in to town later that day and experienced a high level of stress including elevated heart beat, butterflies in my stomach and an excruciating longing to be one of the girls out on the street.
This was a strong reaction, probably due to the length of the nine day session, but regardless of the length of the dressing session it is always sad to say good-bye until the next time. The good thing is that over the last few months the frequency of Kayh appearing has become more regular…but like a spoilt child, she always wants more!

I’ve been on antiandrogen for 3mths and E for 2mths and I hadn’t noticed any effect on muscle strength until this last weekend when I couldn’t pull start a small petrol motor while my son-in-law whose strength has been knocked around by being on dialysis had no trouble.

Here is my experience for comparison. At my first visit to my counsellor at the Gender Centre I booked in as Carol was addressed as Carol by everyone there. It’s a free service so there was no need to show a card. I went to my first session dressed as a bloke but after that I dressed as Carol.
I booked in to the gender friendly GP that the counsellor recommended using my male name because that is on my medi-bank private, medi-care and mastercard cards. Ditto for the Psych he referred me to. All visits to these people have been as a bloke but that will change to Carol for future visits to the GP starting on Friday. I’ve only been to the Psych the once. I discussed my presentation with each professional each said “whatever you are comfortable with” and that it would not affect their advice to me. All have been particularly helpful in smoothing my passage. I’m not full-time carol yet and sometimes switching modes is tricky. But I’m slowly increasing my proportion of time as Carol and as a measure of helpfulness it only took one Psych and 2 GP visits to get me on hormones A-A and E.
I think the main thing the professionals want from their patient is honesty. -

So it seems we have come to a point where we either have the Ball and a few Seminars. Or we have seminars with a Ball.
Which is an interesting problem, and hopefully a nice one fro Amanda for a change.
I personally find the Ball my highlight even though I couldn’t make it this year. Hint, make sure you watch ALL the funds in a divorce.
💡
Many of us would agree with me but the majority enjoy the close knit community for ALL the week end and as such the mix of learn and enjoy has blossomed.
Many in our community would never pay our prices for OUR Grand Ball so we can forget about them anyway.
“I can go out here for nothing” being the common theme.
But again what Amanda gives us is immeasurable and beyond even financial.
It is the chance to mix normally amongst like folk, Stress Free! And you cant put a value on that!
Who knows but with Gov funding a very serious Open Seminar could be held on Friday as the golf day becomes thursday.
Food for thought.

Amanda,
As it is the value received in attending the Transformal weekend is immeasurable.
Economy of scale suggest more attendees would reduce the cost per person but we seem to have reached critical mass so we must work with what we have.
If the cost of the weekend has to rise accordingly then so be it. All things considered, travel cost, wardrobe and accessory costs and the money spent on meals etc while in Katoomba the amount you are suggesting is a small percentage of the overall weekend which would not occur at all without TF.
Let us all budget for a little extra and look forward to great Transformal weekends in the future all thanks to your imagination, foresight and hard work.
Also perhaps we could be a bit more diligent in encouraging our friends to attend. A lot of people I know would gain so much if they would only come along and experience TF with us.
Regards and thanks Amanda,
Jan

Bearing in mind the overall value of the weekend as unique opportunity to get to know a whole lot of wonderful people, I am very willing to pay the price suggested.

Reading earlier posts it is obvious everyone has their own definition of passing. I’m just a beginner at walking down a busy street or through a mall and my definition involves not drawing attention to myself and avoiding resulting unpleasantness from rude people. However resplendent in 2″ heels a red blouse and green overcoat last Friday walking down Broadway in Sydney I caught the eye of a man on his knees fixing a sign on a shop window. He did a double take looking up at me from a low angle. totally instinctively I winked at him. He rewarded me with the nicest beaming smile and I waltzed on to my hotel with a grin just as big. No I didn’t pass but it was still fun.
