Gender exits, but has no relevance without an awareness of sexuality. In my opinion gender and sexuality cannot be disentangled. They are indivisible components of our self which combine to make us what we are.

I think I would like to be happy. I would like to wake up one morning and enjoy the kind of experience my partner has, as she get dressed, applies her make-up, gets ready for work-asks my opinion-“is my foundation too dark”-“what do you think about this top”, “is it too revealing” “do you think these shoes go with this”. A endless list!. “Darling you look beautiful”. Then reality check, as I put on a pair of grey pants, white shirt, black shoes for city work, or green hi-viz shirt, a pair of workers, and steel capped boots for the bush.
I guess I would really like to indulge myself, and give my partner opportunity to say “I don’t think that top goes with the boots”. Rather than ” that shirt needs ironing”

I tried this recipe and it is seriously good. A good accompaniment is toasted Turkish bread, with a generous spread of Ricotta.

Hi
This thread reminds of the pheasant pluckers song. Anyway I’m a plucker, but only on the chest, there is not much there in any event, and the follicles come away without too much resistance. Its actually quite a pheasant plucking experience.

I am Thinking “Transisters” which is Highly corny, but sits well with the radio motif for Tranny Radio. To quote Hawkeye,-“Hey there dadio, if you dont like my radio, then get off my patio”

I think my mother always knew, but never asked. There were moments, the odd off hand comment, and probing “silly”question-that kind of thing.Sadly, I never had opportunity to confirm what I know she always suspected. She avoided asking directly to spare me the dilemma of responding. Her only caveat I think was a happy and fulfilling life.

It was exciting, but as I grew older it became less fulfilling and always tempered with guilt. With age I have become more feminine in my outlook, and identify more with issues, that could broadly be defined as “womanly” if such a term exists.
Do I seriously want to be a women? I would like to think I already am. Would I change who I am-no. Dressing is still an important component, however, unlike clothing which we can change, my femininity is always with me.

Hi
I have a few pairs of well worn qantas PJ’s (Morrisey) they are divine-shame about the grey color though. The top half is long enough to wear as a nightie, and the bottom half is super comfortable as well. Only time I ever felt dressed in public was with a set of these on: on a long haul flight. They felt so good it was a shame to go to sleep!!

I agree with Amys post on this subject The medical community in general are oblivious to TR. but the issue I see is perhaps broader. Im thinking about Transgendered aged care in particular and what resources are available to our community in this area. From my own observations the resorces are very skinny. Is this is a role TR would want to take up with medical and aged care providers? I would be very interested to see some views on this.

Hi Brenda
There is a more than a few PHD’s in Behavioural Science Research in this subject. I was asked this question late last year and I was a bit stymed because I could not give an immediate response. Upon reflection,I chose Ruth as a generational name fitting my age-and the Ruths I knew, had personallities that I respected. The South comes from my career, Im one of the last Geologists( I think) who actually use a compass not GPS to Naviigate by polar references to land or by stars. Mars, the male side is North east, and Venus the fem side is for me the Souh Pole-hence the down facing arrow.

This is a good fun question. For me it has changed as I grew older. When I was young, say teen young, it was simple underwear, bras and the like furtively picnched from next door while I was house minding. Stll later, the layering with suspenders, petty coats, and half slips-Alas when will they come back!!. Then later, it was makeup, and experimenting with colours. Still later (I am 50 now), a skirt really kicks in the Y chromosone and still does. Based on this progression, which is time and path dependant, I guess at 70 it will be a lovely centre peice of Jewellry-nothing less than 5 carats!!

Further to CD’s and Engineers. Im an Engineer (Mining and Exploration). Ive never viewed this as a macho career to compensate or supress my fem side, which developed much earlier than my career path. Though the career does impact on my dressing, and created some interesting and hilarious moments going through customs and having a baggage check-Now thats an experience!!
