I spent the hour each side of midnight last night, kept awake by night roadworks outside my hotel bedroom, going through the CD. What an excellent set of pictures proving conclusively what a lot of people had a fun time at Transformal. Thank you Caroline for organising the CD and delivering my copy personally at the Glebe Café night.

I guess a parallel is the gradual normalisation of Ms rather than forcing women to be Miss or Mrs. It needs an activist minority with a good argument and then mainstream adoption. The very small group of non-binary activists need not just a good argument but something really easy for the majority to get their heads around. Lots of TG people want to be “he” or “‘she” and knowing who doesn’t really means you have to know them personally.

Thanks Caty. The same article came in the Sun-Herald’s magazine in Sydney. “Ryan” according to the wife’s version seems to have used “ambush” rather than giving her time to adjust. I wonder what Ryan’s version would read like.

As for your wish – that there are more folk around like Elizabeth – my growing experience is that your wish may already be true.

Seems like the real keys to your success here were your own self-confidence and openness.

Within the past year, I’ve finally summed up the courage to tell my favourite cousin. She responded by explaining that she felt privileged that I had been able to bestow my trust in her to this extent.

Her response made me realise that I could have told her several decades ago! It has also given me the confidence to go on and tell several others – all with positive outcomes so far.

Thank you Kristyana. You’ve just described almost exactly where I am. Androcur and Estraderm for 12 months has knocked my T to zero and I’ve lost motivation and have waves of depression. My E at last check (3mths ago) had stabilised at about half female levels. I’m going to organise a recheck of blood levels and then have a serious talk to my doctor.

The support from the parents was encouraging Marian. I seem to remember reading somewhere that churches have exemption from anti-discrimination laws, here and in the UK. If so that’s another law change we need to add to the wish list.

No problem here either. After all it was my corny sense of humour that sent us off at a tangent in the first place.

Don’t panic girls. It was the Telegraph after all. I spent most of my life reading only the Canberra Times and the Sydney Morning Herald. The climate is much better there. ABC and SBS are comfortable places too. If you hang out in a western Sydney club you won’t get as much acceptance as in an inner city brasserie. Just a fact of life.

Interesting indeed but the comments on the article showed that we still have a long way to go to educate the Telegraph’s readers about who we are.

I hope Amanda, Megan and all who helped to put Transformal 2014 together are very proud of their efforts and know that all their hard work is very much appreciated.

I don’t think the Carrington staff could possibly be any more helpful, accepting and respectful. They are wonderful.

The weather was absolutely perfect. The evenings were mild, the sunny days a joy.

Previous friendships were rekindled, new friendships were forged and our ever expanding network of gender diversity was taken to a new level.

All the activities were fun, informative and worthy of mention but Saturday night at the Formal was over and above all expectations. As last year the band was a perfect mix of great songs, lots of fun and we were still able to hold conversations at the tables, a tick in every box.

Not a black mark to be found.

I ‘d like to add my thanks as a first timer too: to Amanda and Caroline for the organisation, to the hotel staff for being unfailingly polite and accepting and to the band for music that allowed me to still hold conversations, that was easy to listen to and that actually got me on a dance floor for the first time in decades. I loved every minute.

The personal portrait is very tempting but can I find out more about what is involved. Is a pre-photo make-over included? Is there an opportunity to have another supplier do a make-over first? Is this a break out in the middle of the dinner or is the booking for a different time entirely (ie chance to change outfit)?
