Hee hee Sammie. Are you following me around. My latest wig was from The Individual Wig too. I too was in male mode and yes the ladies were very helpful. I thought it needed a bit of a trim but they talked me out of that idea. Later I took it to a really great hairdresser in Figtree and got it styled the way I wanted it. It was fun in both shops sitting in a chair in the shop having staff fuss over me.

I’ve been on Cyproterone for 11months. I had been on Finasteride 5mg but that did nothing noticeable for me. The Cypro has very successfully dropped my testosterone to zilch (<0.09 at the last check). There has been some regain of head hair where it was thinning, there is less body hair and muscle tone. But as I'm also using estrogen patches I can't definitively separate the effects. Unless you count loss of muscularity and strength there have been no physical adverse side effects. Mentally the lower testosterone means I'm less comfortable taking risks (eg going out dressed unless to a familiar venue) and have a reduced drive and enthusiasm for dressing regularly, though I still enjoy it when I do.

Well the first time I went into a wig shop, they took one look and said “You’d like to come into the back room wouldn’t you?” The next time they said “You’d be OK out here wouldn’t you? and when I went to leave with my purchase they said “You don’t need it in a plain bag do you, the pink bag with our logo will be fine”. Must have been my body language. The best fun of all though was sitting down with my new purchase on my head, otherwise in drab, in a ladies hairdressers getting it restyled surrounded by other women with hair issues.

Hi Liz and thanks for the morale boost. This will be my first Transformal, so I’ll definitely be an open mouthed new girl on her first day of school. It won’t be my first time out though. I’ve spent the past year slowly getting used to the idea that I can shop and eat and drink in company or alone as a girl. For Transformal it will be my first time in company in an evening dress and I’m terrified I won’t fit into it or it won’t suit me. My usual style is neat casual. I’m looking forward to meeting you and others I know only from the web and seeing a few people that I have met in real-life as well.

Actually it appeared first on Sunday at a more reasonable hour. I was quietly watching it in the back room when my wife called out that there was something I’d be interested in on ABC2. We ended up watching it together and it provoked an interesting conversation between us.

I’ll be really interested in the results of your research Jennett. I’m not sure what technology the “Elite” system uses. I’ve been having regular laser treatment to reduce body and facial hair using an “Alexandrite” laser which is supposed to be better for lighter hair.
Body results were really good. The body hair is now finer, sparser and fairer after only a couple of goes spread over 6mths. Facial hair is another matter. It’s much fairer after a total of 6 goes and is growing more slowly but I seem to have plateaued and still need to shave every couple of days or just before an evening out to avoid the stubble feel even if the shadow is virtually non-existent. I think I need to switch to electrolysis. -
Hmm. I’ve been going through a bit of a rethink myself recently. There comes a point when a genetic male who has spent 50+ years dreaming of being a real girl comes crashing up against reality. I just watched the doco about Jan Hamilton, UK paratrooper who transitioned at age 42. In one scene Jan cracks up as she realises that after all the surgery all she can hope for is to be a good looking transsexual and that she needs to adjust her expectations to that.
Me, age nearly 66, had a similar wake up call earlier this year. But everybody outside my immediate family has been to my face friendly and positive about the way I present as Carol. So why don’t I just go for it knowing that “it” isn’t fooling anybody But we can all live with it. -
There certainly must have been a turnover. Seahorse is currently claiming 137 financial members and my 999 number was issued last January. I’ve only been to two Seahorse events so I’m not a very active member. The main reason is that Adrian’s Glebe Café nights clash with Seahorse monthly meetings and I find Glebe more fun.

Well I figure that if you put “Seahorse Society” in a Google search and find a website that allows you to access most of it as a visitor it’s not that secret a society. Even if you don’t find my name, address and number. Actually as Member No 999, I’m just happy I’m not 666!
