For Caroline, I went en femme en route to the Transformal Ball. I captured en passant the eyes of a gang of youths. From that moment on I was en guarde.

thank you Sarah_Elizabeth for posting.I can’t recommend this enough, succinct and stylish explanations of who transgender people are and arguments in support of the rights of transgender people. This could so easily be Transgender 101.
I hadn’t heard of John Oliver until now, and did a web search, he has been a writer and presenter for the “Daily Show with Jon Stewart” since 2006, and has been doing this show for HBO since April last year.

I thought this was a quite brilliant interview. We need our transgendered heroes and Eddie Izzard for me is right up there. A wonderful, intelligent and positive thinker.
Eddie is talking about running for Mayor of London soon, I think Eddie should run for Mayor of Earth instead.

I still love modelling for that very reason Adrian, attempting to replicate shots that I have seen gg (genetic girls) models capture. It is for me a validation of my femininity. I have also seen footage of someone decorating their christmas tree, I presume for these reasons also.
Christina since I have grown my nails, though I am not up to colouring them when usually out in public, I do use my pinkie nail as a pointer. For instance when directing a friend to a passage in a magazine, or newspaper. Perhaps if you use this technique people might notice your nails more. More or less blatantly putting them in their line of sight  .

I didn’t find it preachy at all, in fact I thought it a very well written manifesto of your chrystallined experience that closely matches my own views. Thank you for sharing.

Member24/01/2014 at 8:03 pm in reply to: dating sites-declaring you are a crossdresserHi Melissa,
I would doubt that a mainstream dating site is going to give any tg options, as they are running a business and will reflect the ‘social mores’, which as we know are quite conservative. I haven’t even thought about those options for a long time. Given how strongly you are feeling about your ‘transgenderism’, and as most of us knows, this feeling doesn’t go away, quite often as we get older it only becomes more a force we have to reckon with, you might be better off joining sites like Adult Match Maker (AMM), or Adult Friend Finder (AFF), yes they tend to be more “hook up” sites rather than traditional dating sites, but they both give transgender options, and there are many transgender people on these sites, in all the various forms, from cds, tvs, part-time women, to full-time both pre and post op. Because they have this option, those who identify as male or female then have the option of ticking transgender as an option for what they are looking for, which enables us “girls” to actually search these people out.
Just because they have the reputation as “hook up” sites doesn’t mean you can’t have actual dates, and it doesn’t mean that you won’t find someone who is looking for long term relationships.
And the other plus side is you can be as honest as you need to be in your profile,
Good luck, Cali

Hi Scylla,
Put simply, I think we choose this because it becomes too uncomfortable being the person we were.
-
This is too easy, Caty. Put simply it is because, when we are dressed, we float.
If you want the more complex answer, I would guess, that, in heels, our weight is more supported by our toes and the balls of our feet, and also, at times, on our heels, depending on how the individual gurl moves in her heels. Those of us with a good arch, would normally be supported by those three areas. Perhaps this is why your feet don’t hurt.
Just guessing,

well you are genetically different, we are each unique
just remember life is forever changing thanks to mutations occurring in the gene pool, if they found a tg gene, and attempted to fix it would that stop humans evolving into the homo superior as I think David Bowie once sang in “Oh You Pretty Things”
(written with a pinch of tongue in cheek)
not that I am saying we are superior, but isn’t it nice to be able to have some personal understanding to both the female and male psyche

As I become more femme my looks become more important to me. I know in boy mode, grooming and appearance were never a high priority, but I realise now that being a boy just doesn’t suit the way I am wired.
Last summer I started getting an all over tan, except for wearing a string bikini bottom. No more tan lines yay! (except for down there but I find tan lines down there quite sexy). Because apart from when I am sunning myself, and its just a little at a time so I don’t burn, I make sure I am fully covered if I am going to be out in the sun for too long.
This summer I have even made sure my arms are hair free. And surprisingly no one has commented, not my daughter, nor her mother. Hopefully by next summer I will be compelled enough, and brave enough to shave my lower legs through summer as well.
One tip girls, in regard to sun damage and our aging skin, I am using a sorbolene cream, at least once a day and it has done wonders for my skin. Which is much softer now. One litre at any supermarket is only a few dollars. At that price one can afford to smear it on, and the skin actually absorbs it quite quickly.
Thanks for the subject Caty,
hugs Cali

I trawl through the old posts too Chloe, but probably not as comprehensively as you do, more on a higgledy piggledy basis. One thing, if you do find an old post that is worth a reply, or a vote, then it will bring it back into the light on the forums.
However this won’t test A-A’s quest for an improved algorithm, perhaps one that gives more weight to the last 12 months and diminshes the further back we go, much like the ICC rank cricketers and nations
. Not that I think our glorious web mistress needs testing or more work.
Otherwise I think Jeni’s idea has good merit as well.

when you say “challenge fate” (I presume you are referring to one of the Friday 13s of 2013) are you talking about walking under a ladder while there are painters’ above, or allowing a black cat to cross your path, perhaps while its being chased by a doberman?

Thankyou so much for posting this Emily,
and the youtube link. just watched the clip. It is such a fabby, fun video and a lovely Pet Shop Boys song. How good does ‘Dirty’ Diana look, she has that wonderful sparkle in her eyes, I think we all get when we are made-up,hugs Cali

Thanks so much for the link Sarah,
What a fun video the three directors made in introducing the trailer. Tom Twyker and the Wachowski siblings [no longer brothers
].
Interesting that the plot of the movie involves not only gender swapping by the actors, but also race, age and character swapping as well. As Andy Wachowski says, Why keep genres separate. Why keep genders separate.
Interesting to read the comments below the trailer as a cross-section of responses to the movie itself and Lana’s new public image (there were 7 coments when I read them).

Member15/07/2012 at 6:44 am in reply to: New reputations are now being made (and broken)!I love the new reputation agenda Amanda and congratulate you on devising a system that will encourage a more active involvement by TgR’s members. One comment I do have is I have noticed someone with a reputation greater than 100% in one of their areas. Does this mean we can aspire, as some footballers do regarding their on field efforts, of having a reputation greater than 100%, or is it sadly just a glitch.
