“If I woke up tomorrow and found myself totally blind, how would it affect my expression as a person”

    Answer ? Simple…… It wouldn’t

I am, who I am……… Blind or not.

I don’t need a mirror or camera to define how I express myself as a person. I am just simply ………. Me.

To answer the question. I don’t; because I am.

Being a woman is like being pregnant. You either are, or you aren’t. You can’t be half pregnant. That’s just my position.

    Hi Ericka,

Good to hear the medication is providing some relief effect. You may wish to consider seeking other medical opinions, as the advise I got my from my Endo regarding cycling HT for MTF women, it is only effective if you are wishing to fall pregnant. That the only reason the female body cycles it’s hormone levels.

The best feminising results for MTF women, is to have a constant, effective supply of hormones; and in his opinion, that can be best provided through sub dermal implants.

You might feel fine during your 14-27 days, but what is the effect you experience during the 1-13 days. Perhaps may not do the condition you are on anti depressants for, much good.

That’s my experience and 2 cents worth. HT can be a dangerous process to play with. It can result in death, or least case serious damage to critical organs.

    Hello Jennifer,

In answer to your question about factual info on Australian surgeons, you won’t find any. Or those surgeons previously mentioned (Ceber, Ives etc) I am aware of another Urologist in Sydney who performs Vaginoplasty. Dr. Richard Millard at Concord Hosp. I know absolutely nothing about him, but have had reference made to him through GP contacts.

Dr. Marci Bowers has a good resources page on her website which will give you some idea of what to expect.

VAGINOPLASTY IS MAJOR, TRAUMATIC, INVASIVE SURGERY. Do not UNDERESTIMATE IT. Research the surgeons, patients, techniques until to can recite it verbatim.

This surgery not only changes you physically, but psychologically and esoterically. Being major traumatic surgery it comes with the real risk of post surgical trauma and depression. Ensure you are well read on the subject and have follow up sessions with your Psych/Therapist.

There is no such thing as too much research on this specific event in your life. Be mindfully aware that even 20% of the post op community commit suicide. We lost one very successful woman in Adelaide last week.

Do your research and know EXACTLY what you want. If you don’t understand anything, don’t do anything else until you know exactly what it means.

Good luck (Labouring Under Correct Knowledge )

    Hi Melissa,

I’ll spare you the details, as we are all different. In answer to your question. Yes; I identified myself at the age of 4, to be a girl, not a boy.

With the aid of an gender therapist I was able to process my dysphoria to the point of transitioning. This is a process in progress to be completed soon.

I’ve never really subscribed to the “born in the wrong body” syndrome. The body I have IS mine, it just had some correctable imperfections. I discovered that in Year 9 science.

    Hope this helps

As mention, hereditary is only a “general” indicator of your overall breast growth. My mother was a ‘B’ all her life, except for here breastfeeding days, and I’m a ‘C’ and still growing. Albeit starting on PM, I’m now on HT.

    Hi Scylia,

Yes. I have had a good result in the use of PM. I did use it in conjunction with another herbal I cannot comment on here, in order to comply with the TOS for this thread.

Some 3 or 4 years ago I used PM for approx 6 months and achieved a large ‘A’ cup. I am now a ‘C’ cup due to other medication, the rest is history, both of which cannot be discussed in this thread to comply with the TOS.

If you’d like to hear the rest of my story, I’ll find the necessary threads that comply with the subject material and link between them.

But, yes; in my case, PM DID work.

    Why not?
It could be the other herb had the effect – and not PM… if you don’t say then aren’t you potentially misleading us?
Or is the opportunity to have a dig at moderation too strong to resist?

I find the petty side-sniping at keeping topics on-topic quite pathetic to read. These forums were set up with the intent of collecting useful information, and unless we pay an army of sub-editors to clean everything up that means the posters (yes you) have some responsibility to the site.

We are all adults, we all can understand what the original poster wanted to know (the on-topic-stuff). And for those who find the idea of creating a structured resource for the benefit of those who follow us too restrictive on their creative outpouring there is all of the unmoderated forums to play in, not to mention plenty of other on-line forums.

I rarely provide poor evaluation of posts – but the tone of this post makes me feel it is a thinly veiled attack on moderation (and so me) and so I should vote.

    Hi Chloe,

In answer to your question. Absolutely gorgeous man. Knows his stuff backwards. I’d place my life in his hands. In fact I have, and haven’t looked back since.

A somewhat biased response? Probably. But I’ve licked the ice cream and I want a double scoop.

    You’ll be fine with him.

Thank you Pamela for pointing out the specific law that causes the concern. I was unaware of its existance.

It’s quite an interesting and valid point you raise, and by which certainly needs to be addressed.

From my own personal standpoint it bears little consequence. I have always viewed my GID to be temporary and correctable. Hence I’ve put into action, all the requirements of law to be legally defined as a female. By the end of 2013, I will have satisfied all prerequisites and be eternally happy to live the rest of my life as a woman. Female by gender and law, but not genetics. A minor imposition.

But that is my own personal opinion and plan.

Congratulations Pamela on a good effort in creating discussion at a Federal level.

In order for this reply to hopefully remain here, I will address two points within this thread.

My first point is in regard to the nominal 2% of membership that appear to have an interest in this topic. This 2%, represents quite a normal figure of interest from such a niche portion of society with very diverse interests. So in a way, you would have to be pleased with such a good response.

My second point regards the actual content of your correspondance to your local Federal member.

Your last paragraph concerns me greatly.

    a) If I’m to be drawn into the “royal ‘We,'” I wish to have no association with the Transgender/Transexual community in any way, shape or form

    b) The comment with respects to, no known cure, stands in contradiction to a topic started here some time ago, requesting Medicare recognition of GID in its many forms. Again at a Federal level. (Somewhat counter productive to presenting a “United Front” on the issue)

    c) and further to point (b), you are in grave danger of alienating a respectable portion of the community, that are spending an inordinate amount of time, money, resources and effort in seeking well proven forms of remediation for GID. Some of which place the individual well within the spectrum of the law with respects to marriage.

    d) To suggest “we are happy living between two worlds” further compromises and undermines the respectable effort referred to in point (b) and I would strongly disagree that the state of supposed ‘happiness,’ could exist, in an environment of personal, and sometimes profound compromise.

With all due respect, it was a nice effort. However my own personal opinion I feel it weakened the case for law reform.

    Respectfully

Big huggs to you Erika. Congratulations on such a courageous effort. Self fulfillment must be a pretty much indescribable feeling, not to mention that moment of silent ecstasy when you realize congruency has been achieved.

You are absolutely right about having support people with you. It’s almost mandatory, for your own self preservation.

I, personally am heading to the States later this year for excactly the same reason. I’m soooooooo lucky to have my adoreable sister-in-law accompanying me.

Welcome home, speedie recovery and big huggs. Oh! and remember to keep up that totally awesome ‘maintenance ‘ schedule up :)

    Hi Erika,
For my 2 cents worth on the matter. Natural is just much better. Most often I see either implants or forms are too big for the persons given body frame which makes the person disproportional to their overall shape making them stand out like a beacon.
If you are on HRT they will improve with time. After all there’s nothing wrong with ‘Bs’.
    Think seriously about it

. One piece of information intrigues me; Skin changes (I’m assuming it is the change of fat layers under the epidermis), becoming more “sensitive”.

    Hi Sarah,

Yes there is a change to the fat layer, but what may be more prominent is the top layer of skin. It becomes thinner, making it more suseptable to damage , through abrasions with hard surfaces.

The thinning of the skin does make it more sensitive.

Hope you are enjoying the experience.

    Hi Lauren,

As much as I’d lke to help you out on this one, unfortunately all my body and physical functionality changes are a direct reult of a full HRT regime, which includes T blockers.

Therefore the results of T blockers alone cannot be defined. If you were to check the NSW Gender Centre website out, they have a series of downloadable PDF’s which should answer your query.

    Be safe, well and happy

22/05/2012 at 3:14 pm in reply to: A thread for those who just don’t get the message

Before we totally lose the perspective of where this thread originated from, I believe a little clarity is needed. In the beginning Amanda quoted

“I have created a Google album specifically for the photos taken at the weekend… as it looks as if there will be over a thousand! The album will be a private album, with visibility limited to those who attended TransFormal – which means I won’t have to check each picture individually for any red stickers!

Does any one have the slightest idea how much time would be expended to not only upload OVER a 1,000 photos, let alone check the intimate detail of each one looking for a red sticker??

I will then select a few of the best for general public viewing – when I get some time!

As I operate a Broadcast Production House in Sydney, I find the statements above, more than adequately reasonable, as I understand the personnal that would carry out this operation are not paid for their services rendered.

Surely for someone who didn’t attend TF, that offering of the highlights of the weekend, would be sufficient to gauge whether they should attend next year?

In all honesty and if you study linguistics I did find Sonya’s opening statement quite confrontational, immediately followed by a personal attack on the site administrator. From there the attitude of the OP only became more derisive. I believe there is evidence, beyond reasonable doubt that the OP’s thread was at best, confrontational.

Certainly if there was a genuine reason to solicite an answer as to why the photos were for limited viewing; the question could have been couched in a far more effective and appealing manner.

And to finish off, as Lisa so aptly mentioned, there at tmes is TOO much testosterone floating round the ether. Something we need to be constantly aware of, as its subliminal presence can be the factor that determines how well we pass, or not.

    With respect
    Catherine
