    Thanks for the feedback….

    You’re welcome Amanda.
So far, apart from niggling matters, the new chatroom seems to be working well.

    Thanks Amanda.

    – True but being different isn’t necessarily a problem. The state display was squeezed out by the green circles. To elevate this from “being different” to “being a problem” I’d need to understand the issue.

When it was combined with the name not being clickable to get to a member’s profile page, it made things harder to find the profile of members online.
With the member’s name once again being a link to their profile page, needing to have which state a member is from, visible on the Home page, is not an issue.

    – The entry page is quite different – but that doesn’t necessarily make it a problem. I decided not to repeat the hack I did last time to extract that data to eavesdrop into the chat room. It only really works for one room (not the two we now have), it looked messy with all the different colours – and was a legacy from a time when people were being naughty in the public chat!

I’d always use that chat log fragment to get an idea of what was currently being talked about, before entering the chatroom.
I hadn’t realised it was a messy hack, only really workable with one chatroom.

Three problems that I’ve noted since the new Chat Room was rolled out.
    1. You can no longer click on a member’s name in the ‘Who is online’ box on the Home page, and see that member’s profile. Clicking on a member’s name in that box, immediately goes to open a private chat session with the member clicked on.

    2. The ‘Who is online’ box on the Home page, no longer shows which State/territory/country a currently online member is from.

    3. The chat room entry page no longer shows any recent lines of chat from the main room in the Chat Room.

I’ve, so far, managed to avoid the issue of zips I could not zip up or unzip.
When I started publicly crossdressing in the early 1990s, the classic frocks of the 70s and early 1980s were totally out of fashion, so I had no need to worry about zips on the backs of dresses.
When I bought the gown for last year’s TransFormal, and the LBD for this year’s TransFormal, I made a point of making sure I could fully zip up, and unzip each, without assistance.

Imagine trying to clip a vintage longline bra from the rear, …some women actually did that, before the advent of the styles we see today, although a lifetime of practice would make the task so simple for any woman. No male would ever develop the skill necessary without secumbing to anger, frustration and a stiff drink or three.

Back when I was just a crossdresser, one soft cup bra I owned was a Playtex longline, bought when McDonnell & East were closing down due to bankruptcy. Hooking that bra up was an easy 10 or so minutes of agravation. I could easily hook up 2 hook bras, chicken wing fashion, but that longline bra routinely frustrated me. There was always at least one hook which refused to go in place, and in getting it in place, one or both either side of it would come undone.

Another pearler is the convertible bra that challenges your right brain power, to flick those straps over whilst looking in the mirror. Darn left hand just won’t go where ya need it to, will it ??

Back when I was just a crossdresser, the first underwire bra I purchased was a convertible bra.
I learned very fast, that to get the straps to go where I wanted, when I was wearing the bra as a cross back, I needed to have the straps already attached to the back, and flick them up and over my shoulders to the front for attaching to the front of the bra.
For using the bra as a halter neck, I’d have the strap attached to one side of the front, before putting the bra on, then slide the strap up and around the back of my neck, and back down for attaching to the other side of front of the bra.
And I’d always hook up that bra chicken wing style.

How about a sports crop top ?? Some are so dang tight, you can hear the elastic groaning to slip over shoulder width that they were never designed for. Others you have to step into and pull them up, then become a contortionist to get your arms through.

I find the step-in method the easiest way to put on crop-top bras.

    Quote:
Clip at the front bras are a godsend, but not seen all that often. I prefer the ‘Wonderbra’ styles. So easy and comfortable. Snazzy colours too !!

Front fastening bras are often referred to as being ‘post-surgical bras’ or ‘posture bras’.

Chicken winger, for my rear fastening bras.
What would be the appropriate term to use for front fastening bras?

What is somewhat ironic, for me, in this discussion about how to put on and fasten bras, is 2 of my non breast form bras are front fastening ones.

Its the “fiddly bits” that get to me. EG False eyelashes and nails.

Been trying these lately with very mixed results. I have huge male hands and fingers and wear glasses to see, so even with tweezers, make up glasses and a magnifying mirror, I still have not got these right.. And I keep losing them too. Luckily thus far where ‘er indoors has not seen them. Trying to get the right amount of glue on to them is tough as well, looks like I’m doing woodwork back in my Tech school days

I could never get false eyelashes to work either, Caty,
For me, dealing with the false eyelashes felt more like building model kits.
Applying the glue with a sewing needle, and then carefully manipulating them into place with tweezers in one hand, whilst trying to hold the rest still with the other.

    Quote:
I also tried nails the last Caty day. Remembering I cant leave them on, trying to use anything but the adhesive they come with is not on. Just as well I had two sets, cos that was they only way I got one complete lot out of it all.

2 sets of false nails to get one full set, was also part of my routine.
I learned to look for the clear nails, after running into issues finding 2 matched sets of nails in the same colour. I would glue the the clear nails on, then apply my preferred nail polish colour.
As my skills with model kit building, back in those days, were still current, I could easily and flawlessly apply the nail polish.
Now days, when I try to apply nail polish, the results are not good at all. I have become woefully out of practice.

    Quote:
    PROBLEMS

a/. Getting them to stay on. (EXTRA floor security sweeps looking for lost nails after the Caty session)

Unfortunately there is no real solve to these problems.

    Quote:
b/. Trying to do anything complicated with them on when you are not used to them is a nightmare. Could not even undo my bra the normal way, had to twist it around the front. Don’t even ask about untying corset laces….

When I used to wear false nails, I could never do anything complicated whilst wearing them either, as I was unacustomed to their instant length.
I used to leave sticking on the false nails till last of all, so I could do all the more fiddly detail work first. And when taking everythng off, the nails were always the first to go.

    Quote:
We know “real girls” do all of this as a natural thing. But they dont have hands the size of garden spades and have been doing it forever.

It’s NOT that real females “have been doing it forever.”
It is that as they have let their nails grow, they slowly alter the way they do everything, to allow for the slowly lengthening nails.
When a woman breaks a few long nails in a short space of time, it throws all her adjustments for the nails right off.

Noting the update to the chatroom software, would this make it possible to run the eSeminars in the chatroom?

Dee, what you did most recently is not purging. it’s culling.
Cleaning out the items too outdated to wear or which no longer fits.
Culling a wardrobe is not a BadThing to do, and really needs doing every couple of years.

14/08/2013 at 11:49 am in reply to: Earrings clip on for studs and drop earrings

Caty, before I got my ears pierced, I used to use earring adaptors.
I used ones that were screw-clip, similar to the ones on this page:
    http://www.luc-co.com/screw-clip-earring-converter—1-pair
In your trying of earring adaptors, did you try this style?

For me, this style worked well, as the tightness of the clip could be adjusted, so they stayed put without pinching.
Down side to adaptors like them is they are solely for post type pierced earrings, and were useless for hook styles.

I did a bit of digging on Google and this was what I could find.

hongyun12148 seems to be a sellers watermark on wigs listed by ebay seller maocn99. Hongyun is the actual wigs brand.

All search combinations of workforcustomer 9375, I could come up with, gave no results. But workforcustomer on its own, without the number comes up as an ebay seller.
workforcustomer comes up with a pile of wigs available on ebay. No actual brands of wigs are mentioned in this seller’s listings though.

I have no problem with advance bookings per se – but rather with the implicit assumptions about it happening!
By block booking all the cheaper rooms on the contract I do force those wanting to advance book the upgrade to more expensive rooms).

In my own case, the assumption that there would be a TransFormal 2014, was by the venue itself on both occasions when recommending that I book my accommodation for next year, in advance.

Thanks Amanda. I had, wrongly, assumed that you were earlier talking about the general populace of the town, and its businesses, rather than the TG population of the Blue Mountains region.

Weekend including Friday Supper, Saturday Lunch, Saturday Formal, and all workshops would end up priced in the range $180- $190 – about $40 more than this year (but with an extra meal included).

Amanda, while I have no problems with the proposed price increase to a possible $190 for the weekend, another of the proposals for 2014 raises a question.

    Quote:
Moving the “lunch on the town” to Sunday will provide another opportunity to socialize as a group and from my perspective would also make it easier to schedule the workshops.

How would the Sunday “lunch on the town” idea impact on Grand High Tea attendance?

Another question comes to mind regarding the ticket costs:
How much extra, per ticket, would it be to have a specific room booked for use for Formal portraits?

I’ve been talking to the hotel about things like keeping the bar open to 1am

Having the bar open till somewhat later would be useful, if the pattern of gathering near the bar for a late evening chat after the day’s activities contiunues.

    Quote:
Contrary to the views of some who were booking their 2014 rooms before the last TransFormal had started – 2014 has challenges that I have to address before rushing in with a deposit and a booking at the hotel..

I was offered, by the Carrington, 2 opportunities to book for 2014, well in advance.
The first, I discussed with you in the chatroom.
The second offer was made when I checked in this year.
Now with those advance booking offers coming from the venue, how do we dissuade members from booking up to over a year and a quarter in advance?

    Quote:
Despite various attempts at publicity the formal has failed to attract any significant local interest.

I think I can understand why.
Since the weekend is tied so heavily to taking place entirely inside the Carrington, it doesn’t really involve the town as a whole by the attendees and events for the weekend, so there is little value for the town in having any overall local interest.

31/05/2013 at 9:22 pm in reply to: false nails; how to get them to stick?

    A couple of questions, Sally.

Is the arching across the width of the artificial nails greatly different than your real nails?
If so, then there’s going to be far less contact area for any adhesive to work with.
Too high an arch on the false nails to your real nails, and the centre of the false nails will not stick.
Too low an arch on the false nails to your real nails, and the sides of the false nails will not stick.

You say that even superglue won’t keep the false nails attached.
Does superglue have similar lack of sticking problems for sticking things to your fingernails?
